A shop that pays attention to the evening
Most HVAC companies here sell the afternoon half of the problem. We would rather sell both halves, and be straight about what each one can do.
Who we are
Peabody Road, Vacaville
A small shop working Solano County and a little way over its edges. Fairfield, Suisun City and Dixon are fifteen minutes; Davis, Winters and Benicia a little more.
The night-ventilation side of what we do came from living here. Anybody who has spent a summer in this valley knows what the evening does, and it is genuinely strange how few houses are set up to use it. Once you start checking attic venting on every visit, you notice how often it is the thing holding everything else back.
The person who quotes your job is the person who does it. There is no sales department, and nobody here earns commission on equipment.
How we work
Four things we will not bend on
- Measure first
- System readings, register airflow, duct condition and attic venting. A recommendation with no measurement behind it is a guess with an invoice attached.
- A price before the work
- Scope and figure in writing, approved by you. If something else appears once a panel is off, we stop and re-quote rather than continuing and explaining afterwards.
- No commission
- Nobody here earns more by selling a bigger system or an extra product. It is the only arrangement under which "seal the ducts, leave the equipment alone this year" can be a real recommendation.
- Honest about the fan
- Including the nights it will not helpWe will not sell a whole-house fan as a replacement for air conditioning, and we will not quote one without telling you about smoke season and the warm nights. A fan sold on a promise it cannot keep gets resented by August.
Credentials
The boring part that protects you
Ask any contractor for these before they touch the house. We would rather you did.
Refrigerant handling
EPA Section 608 certified technicians, proper recovery equipment, and refrigerant handled and recorded as the regulations require.
Permits & Title 24
We pull the permit on changeouts that need one, prepare the Title 24 documentation, schedule the inspection and hand over the closed permit.
Being straight
What we do not do
Knowing what to turn down is most of what keeps a small shop good at the rest.
- Commercial rooftop work, warehouses and refrigeration. A different trade.
- A 24-hour emergency service. In July we are booked; claiming otherwise would be a promise we could not keep.
- Roofing and insulation work. We assess attic venting and insulation because they affect what we do, and then we refer it.
- Jobs well outside Solano County. If we cannot get back quickly, we should not have taken it.
- Fitting a whole-house fan into a house whose attic cannot vent it. We will tell you what the attic needs first, even when that is not the answer anyone wanted.
